Windows 11's new right-click context menu often hides essential options behind a "Show more options" click. This registry tweak restores the full, classic context menu directly, saving an extra click.

The Fix

reg add "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" /f /ve

Why it works

  • This command adds a specific registry entry that tells Windows Explorer to use the classic context menu handler for shell objects, bypassing the new Windows 11 default.

Verify

  • After running the command, restart explorer.exe (you can do this via Task Manager, ending the "Windows Explorer" task, and then running it again from "File > Run new task") or reboot your computer. Right-click on any file or folder; the classic menu should appear immediately.

Notes

  • Requires Administrator privileges.
  • This tweak is specific to Windows 11.
  • You may need to restart explorer.exe or reboot for the changes to take effect.
